My Sick Day Essentials!!!

Hey guys!

So right now, I am lying in bed.  I'm kinda sick today so I thought I would write a post/tutorial on what I do when I'm sick and the essentials I need!

Sick Day Essentials!!!

Whenever I'm feeling under the weather or sick, rest is the most important thing!  I try to sleep for at least 2 hours at anytime in the day.  Rest helps fight the cold and repairs your body!

I always have some magazines to look through, I love the Girlfriend, Dolly and Teen Vogue mags!  I always keep a packet of cough lollies next to my bed for when my throat starts hurting.  I keep my laptop with me always and a snack next to me so I don't have to get up if I'm hungry!

Whenever I'm sick, I love watching movies that will cheer me up!  So my sick day movie must-haves are; Monters Inc., Finding Nemo, Pitch Perfect, Grown Ups, Wild Child and The Hunger Games!

I love to snack on biscuits or anything warm when I'm sick.  Usually I will make some 2 minute noodles or soup to warm my tummy and then I will have a hot chocolate or tea.  These always leave me feeling better and filled up!

I usually take 2 doses of Panadol when I'm sick, just because it makes me feel much better and stops my head from hurting!  It is important to read the back of the packet before you drink any medicine and make sure it isn't out of date!  Take the right dosage for your age and make sure you wait at least 4-6 hours before having some more medicine!

If I Have To Go Somewhere When I'm Sick!

So, I saw this great video on macbarbie07 about sick/lazy day essentials and what she wore when she went out!  If your sick and you have to go somewhere, you want to look presentable and not like a zombie.  It is important to be comfortable too!

If I just have to drive somewhere with my parents and I'm not getting out of the car, I will usually just wear my PJ's or my stitch onesie with my Ugg boots because it is very warm and comfortable and you don't have to worry about getting unchanged when you get back home!

If I have to get out of the car and go somewhere whilst still being sick, I try to go for something casual but comfy!  I will usually wear a jumper or sweater with leggings or jeans and my Ugg boots or slip on sandals!  I either wear my hair in a messy bun or just spray some dry shampoo in my hair, brush it out and leave it out!  I like to wear very light make-up, so usually I will wear the make-up that Beth (macbarbie07 on YouTube!) wears when she is sick!  Basically it's just BB Cream, concealer, mascara, etc. I will have a link to her channel so you can check out all of her fab vids!

So I hope this helped!  If you're sick like me, I hope you feel better soon!  Just follow this sick day guide and you will be perfect in no time!

How - To... Photo Heart Wall Decoration!

Hey guys!

Here is another How - To... post!  This one is about those heart-shaped photo collages on your wall!  They are very easy, very fun and super cute when you finish them!

What you need:

1. Blue Tak or double sided tape
2. Masking tape
3. 43 Photos of your choice (you can add or take away the number of photos you have, so long as it makes a heart shape!)

Steps:

1. Print out all of your pictures and lay them out in a heart shape on the floor.
2. Grab your masking tape and put all of the pictures on the wall you want in the heart.
3. Once you have all of the photos in the right position, start taking the masking tape off one at a time and put the Blue Tak or double-sided tape on the back then stick to the wall in the position they were.
4. Once you have repeated step 3 with all of the photos, your collage is done and your wall looks awesome!  Lots of my friends have commented on the collage I made!

This wall deco is very simple, fun and an easy way to spice up your room!

Enjoy!

How - To... Host A Sleepover!!!

Hey guys!

So, here is the first post of my new 'how - to...' series!  This post is going to teach you step by step how to host a sleepover and then how to pack for a sleepover + what to bring!

Hosting a sleepover...

1. Check with your parents!
You always need to check with your parents if you are allowed friends over!  Ask them how many you are allowed to invite.

2. Notify your guests!
You can either give them an invitation, text them, call or email letting them know that they are invited to your sleepover!

3. Organise sleeping arrangements!
Whether you will be sleeping in your room, the lounge room or any other room in your house, making sure that you have the sleeping arrangements worked out before your friends arrive!

4. Buy food!
You can't have a sleepover without food!  Get some yummy food that you know your friends will love but also throw in some fruit or something healthy so that it isnt all junk!  Below is my recommended list for food!

-3 packets of chips (you can choose the flavour!)
-A tub of ice-cream
-Cookies
-Soft drink
-Watermelon
-Oranges
-Apples
-Water
-Pizza
-Popcorn
-Chocolate
-Donuts
-Whipped cream
-Hot chocolate

5. Set-up your sleepover!
In the room that you will be staying in, set-up a really cool, funky, girly space where you can do whatever you like!  Below are some of my favourite activities to do at a sleepover!

-Give each other a make-over! (hair, make-up, outfits, etc.)
-Murder In The Dark
-Truth or Dare
-Board games
-Gossip hour!
-Make a video
-Dance to music!
-Watch movies
-Play pranks

6. Start the party!
As soon as your friends arrive, get stuck into all the food, activities and fun!

How to pack for a sleepover...

1. Pack at least 2 pairs of underpants (one for the next day, one spare!) + any other undergarments you may need!
2. Pack an outfit for the next day!  Make sure it's something comfortable!
3. Make sure you bring shoes so you don't have to borrow or run around in socks!
4. Bring your hair brush, hair ties, hair clips, hair spray, etc.
5. Bring any make-up + face wash that you may need!
6. Bring your toothbrush!  I usually forgot this up until the last second and quickly grab it!
7. Bring some type of food!
8. Bring a movie to watch with your friends!
9. Make sure you don't pack to much so that you look like your moving in!  Keep it to no more than 20 items!

I hope this helped you guys!

Back - To - School My morning routine before school!

Hey guys!

OMG SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW!!!!  The holidays have gone by so quickly, its as if we just got off school yesterday!  This post will hopefully help you when you wake up in the morning and don't have a lot of time to get ready!  In the mornings you need to manage your time very well because you only have an hour or so to get ready!  Well for me at least.

1. Wake up!!
I usually wake up at around 5:15 - 5:30am because I live about an hour from my school and I want to give myself as much time as possible to get ready!

2. Have breakfast!
I hope I'm not the only one, but I absolutely HATE breakfast.  I don't know what it is about it but I just don't like it at all, especially cereal, yuck!  I usually have a vegemite bagel and a hot chocolate or tea in the morning.  If I'm in a really big rush, then I will probably grab a yogurt, apple or muesli bar.  Just remember, breakfast is your fuel until recess!  Make sure that you eat enough to get you through those first two periods!

3. Shower!
It is super important to shower at least once a day!  Especially as your getting older, you want to smell and look clean let alone feel clean.  I usually have a shower in the morning but if I'm really hard-pressed for time then I will have one at night!  I rather having one in the morning though because then you feel clean throughout the whole day!  It is also important to wash your hair so you get rid of all that grease and yucky stuff that build up!  I like to wash my hair every other day!

4. Make-up!
For school, you don't want to load up on the make-up, you want a light, natural look!  My make-up routine goes like this: wash my face, dot on pimple cream, moisturise, BB Cream instead of foundation (its lighter and more natural!), blush, eyeshadow (only if I have time in the mornings!), mascara, curling my lashes, lip moisturiser, colour my lips!

5. Hair!
For school, I usually put my hair up so it's out of my way.  Since I go to a performing arts school and I dance everyday and are required to wear a bun, I will usually wear a bun to school and then take it out after PA.  But if I didn't have dance I would either do a messy bun, half up-half down, loose ponytail, etc.

6. Get dressed!
For those lucky ducks who get to wear mufti everyday...why?!  Hehe, anyway.  Most Australian students will have to wear a uniform, so after your make-up and hair is done, get changed into your uniform!  It is very important that you look smart and very sharp in your uniform, because if you look daggy or scrubby, you are bound to get in trouble from your teacher or even principle.

7. Make sure everything is packed!
I always pack my bags the night before so it's one less thing I have to worry about in the morning, and let me say, it really helps!  Once everything else in the morning is done, I always check my bags and make sure I have everything required for the day!  You don't want to turn up to a class and not have the correct uniform or text books, that will usually result in a detention if you do it enough times!

8. Time for school!
Put on your coat, check yourself in the mirror, grab your bags and head to school!

By following these simple steps, you will most likely be ready much quicker in the morning if you were rushing around, trying to figure out what you needed to do!  Another great tip is write a list down every night and stick it somewhere you will see it and just list everything that you need to do in the morning and you can even be specific like what you are going to have for breakfast!  This really helps me and it just makes it so much easier in the mornings!

You don't have to just write lists for in the morning, I always write lists for everything!  Like on the weekends, I will write a list of everything I need to do for the day or on a school day, I will write down what I need to do after school or anything I need to do whilst in school!  It manages your time a lot better and it also keeps you very organised and punctual!

Back - To - School Study Tips!

Hey guys!

So, most of you will have exams/tests coming up upon your return to school.  This post/tutorial will help you organise your time and help you with studying!

Block out any distractions

This will really help you concentrate on the topic you have to study.  For me personally, I like listening to music, it gets me in the mood and ready to study!  Of course this is different for every individual.  Another tip you can do to block any distractions is either turn your phone to silent or completely turn it off.  This really helps keeping concentrated.  You may choose to study with the TV on, or study in complete silence.  Either way, you have to make sure that you are only focusing on the topic!

Take 5-10 minute breaks every 30 minutes

By taking short breaking every half an hour, it will give you time to relax and get back in the zone!  This really helps me when I'm studying because I usually get bored and distracted pretty easily!  During these short breaks, you can check your phone, have a quick snack or listen to music!

Make study notes and carry them EVERYWHERE

It is very important to remember what you studied and make sure that you know everything that will be in the test!  A great way to do that is to make study notes!  You can write down words you need to remember or important dates on small palm cards and then keep them in your bag!  You can pull them out and read through them if your bored or are waiting for a class!

Eat brain food

While studying for a test, you should only eat healthy food that will keep you awake and alert!  Fruit like bananas or apples are great, so are berries.  You could make a fruit smoothie to sip while studying, whatever you like!  Just make sure to eat healthy food that will be beneficial to you when studying!

Study in a comfortable place

Studying in a hard chair or on the hard floor is not the most comfortable of places to revise!  You could study on your bed or put some pillows and a blanket on the floor and study there!  If you study in an awkward position, then it can 1. be bad for your posture and 2. distract you because you are constantly trying to get comfortable!

By using all of these helpful tips, you will be prepared and ready for your test without any stress!  You will be able to answer all of those questions without any trouble what-so-ever!

Back - To - School Hair ideas!

Hey guys!

I thought this post would be really helpful when your stuck for ideas on what to do with your hair for school!  These are simple, stylish and cute hairstyles that will definitely get you some compliments!

Side - swept messy/casual braid

This hairstyle is perfect for those mornings were your rushing and just need to put your hair up but still look cute.  It is very simple and everyone will be able to accomplish this look!

1. Sweep all hair to one side (right or left, you can choose!)
2. Start braiding (plaiting) your hair loosely
3. Tie it off at the end of the braid
4. If you choose, you can slightly pull the braid apart, giving it a more thicker look.  You may also choose to pull some hair out and mess it up a bit, to fully achieve the messy/casual look!

Slick back high ponytail

This hair style is very simple, stylish and sharp.  It is a great way to get your hair out of your face but still look very sharp and stylish.  Whether you have short, long, thick, curly, thin or wavy hair, you can all accomplish this slick look!

1. Brush hair to eliminate any knots or tangles and so it will be smooth and easy to work with
2. Gather hair into a pony tail.  Line it up so it is in line with your head
3. Tie it off with a hair band
4. Spray some hairspray to slick back any fly-aways
5. Brush out pony tail.  You have successfully achieved the 'high ponytail' look!

Messy bun

This hairstyle is probably one of the most popular up-do's at the moment.  It looks cute, it's super easy and quick and it gets your hair up and out of your face!

1. Gather all of your hair into a pony tail in line with your head.  If there are any bumps, leave them, it adds to the 'messy' look!
2. Twist your hair around until you get a bun
3. You can choose to either secure the bun with some pins or get a stretchy hair elastic and tie it around the bun.  If you choose to go with the hair elastic, you might need to be 2, even 3 elastics in your hair to properly secure the bun.
4. You can pull out some hair to add to the 'messy' look.  You may choose to add a bow to your bun, I personally love adding bows, they make everything better!

This hairstyle is very simple and great for school!  You can make this casual or formal, whatever you choose!

Waterfall Braid

This hairstyle definitely requires a decent amount of experience and skill with braiding.  You might need some help doing this style, as it can get very difficult and awkward trying to braid the back of your hair!

1. Brush out hair to eliminate any tangles or knots.
2. Pick a small piece for one side of your head (left or right, you can choose!)
3. Plait it about 2 times to get started
4. Pick up hair from the top of your head and add it into the braid.  Do not get hair from the bottom.
5. After you have picked up some hair from the top, braid until that strand goes to the bottom, then divide into 2 and let the outer strand fall.  You don't have to worry about that
6. Continue this step until you reach the length you want
7. When you finish waterfall braiding, continue a normal braid and tie off.  You can add a bow or ribbon to give the hairstyle a cuter look!

With this hairstyle, it might be easier to see a YouTube tutorial.  I will have a link below to a video that will help you understand how to do this hairstyle!

I hope all of these hairstyle have helped you decide what you might want to wear to school!  Please comment if you would like me to add anything else to the back - to - school posts!

How to pack a healthy lunch!

Hey guys!

I think a lot of you will really like this post, because I know that I really needed some ideas for what to pack in my lunch!  I like to have a healthy lunch, maybe with one treat.  It's important to give your body the right fuel for the day so you can stay alert and keep your attention on what your learning in school!

What I like to pack in my lunch box...

1. A muesli bar
2. Yogurt
3. A chicken wrap with salad
4. Fruit salad
5. A small amount of dark chocolate
6. Carrot sticks/Cucumbers sticks + Tzatziki dip
7. Cheese + crackers

This is a very healthy and nutritious lunch that will keep you going all day!  Of course, you can alter what you put in your lunch depending on allergies or what you like/dislike but by staying on this kind of path and packing healthy foods in your lunch, it will really help you through the long school day!

What's in my school bag!

Hey guys!

So with school just around the corner, I thought it would be helpful to let you guys know what I keep in my school bag!  This is just the start of many more great posts that you will love!  This is the start of my back-to-school posts, so stay posted for more tips!

In my school bag I keep...

1. Any text books, exercise books, notes, etc. that I might need for the day!
2. A pencil case including; pens, pencils, highlighters, Sharpie, rubber, USB, calculator, ruler, scissors and glue!
3. Recess + lunch + water (or drink)
4. Phone
5. Earphones or headphones
6. Laptop
7. Sunglasses
8. Emergency bag including; tissues, extra phone case, lip balm, cough lollies, pen, deodorant, hand cream, hand sanitizer, perfume, band-aids, manicure set and emergency food!
9. Make-up bag including all the products I'm wearing that day
10. A book or magazine to read incase I finish my work early

The list above is all the things I like to include in my school bag!  It is very important to try and keep it light weight and not heavy, so only put the things that you will be needing for the day in your bag!  I try to keep my bag as light as possible and a tip that I use is to not put more than 10 - 15 items in your bag, it really helps!  Also, when I get to school, I like to put everything I don't need for my first class in my locker, it helps lighten your bag!

I hope this post helps you decide what you need for school and get rid of anything unnecessary that might be weighing down your backpack!  There will be more posts like these coming soon that will lead up to school!
